Welcome to the Think Health Think Nature website

3rd – 11th May 2025
Green Health Week is over for another year but you can catch up in the action in our news section and on our facebook or Instagram accounts.
Thank You every one for taking part. As always we have groups and activities all across Highland throughout the year available in to search in our online directory.

Have you signed the Highland Charter for Climate, Nature & Health?
The Charter is a pledge to put climate, nature, and the benefits of green and blue health at the centre of decision-making and action, so that the natural environment and people have improved health, wellbeing, and resilience.
Pressures on the natural environment, from climate change, resource depletion and biodiversity loss are a threat to human health, as they damage the systems that protect our wellbeing.
The changing climate adversely impacts some people in our society more than others. By promoting action we can help to reduce inequalities and create a Highland that is in good health for climate, nature and people.
You can sign as an individual, as a community group or as a business or organisation. To find out more and to make your pledge:
What we’re about
Think Health Think Nature is the work of the Highland Green Health Partnership, one of four area-wide partnerships developed in Scotland contributing towards “Our Natural Health Service”, a programme being led by NatureScot, which aims to encourage more use of the outdoors to tackle physical inactivity, mental health issues and health inequalities.
The partnership is made of representatives from:
- NHS Highland
- NatureScot
- The Highland Council
- The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA)
- Highlife Highland (HLH)
- The University of the Highland and Islands (UHI)
- The Highland Environment Forum
- The Highland Third Sector Interface (HTSI)
- Paths for All
- Forestry Scotland
- and practitioners in the environment, health and social care sectors.
The outdoors

Breathe some fresh air into your life. The outdoors helps us cope with life’s ups and downs. Your local area can be the perfect place to enjoy tranquil spots, find peace and quiet and also have some fun, healthy, family time.
Physical activity

Less than half of adults in Scotland visit the outdoors on a regular, weekly basis, and 14% don’t at all. Access to greenspace can help to protect the physical and mental health of both adults and children in Scotland.
