Nature 4 Health, a well-established, locally based organisation, ran a full day programme of nature connection for the Nairn community. There were opportunities to try foraging, mindfulness movement, campfire cooking, coastal and riverside walks, paracording and to sit back and enjoy the storyteller’s engaging tales.
Green Hive Nairn provided their welcoming orchard for everyone to mingle between activities and learn about the care of fruit trees and bushes. Nature 4 Health, https://www.n4h.co.uk, who delivered the programme aim to help people connect with nature, each other and themselves. Their guides and activity leaders provided many ways for us to experience the mindful benefits of green and blue space, and to get closer to the fascinating species we share our planet with.
A fantastic partnership between Nature 4 Health, Green Hive, activity gurus and Think Health Think Nature

Ruaraidh lead a fascinating walk along the riverside introducing us to the weird and wonderful uses of some very familiar plants
Families had fun with fire-lighting making the most of Ruaraidh’s expertise and safe tools such as strikes and dry tinder. Some had not cooked out of doors before today so making and eating chocolate bread calzones on the campfire cooking was a real highlight for one family.
Gentle options included yoga under the trees, using colourful cord to create all sorts of things – bracelets (Also known as paracording).
Those who came along said how much they enjoyed seeing their local spaces in a different way, being in the fresh air, learning new things (foraging, fruit care, paracord weaving), and relaxing with mindful movement.
“I loved slowing down and looking differently at an area I regularly walk with the dog. Stopping and having the chance to take in the tree canopy and learning new things about the edible plants in my area.”
“I really enjoyed the event but found it so difficult to choose which event to attend! And a suggestion for next time is that all the activities could be within walking distance, so we don’t have to use cars.”
