Many of the activities are free of charge but some services incur a charge.
Many services are available to everyone while some require a referral from a health professional. If you wish to participate in a service requiring a referral, please discuss this with your GP or other health practitioner.

Community greenspace
Fernaig Community Trust
Community ownership of 110 Acres of land, let as agricultural smallholdings to locals; field for community allotments; areas of mixed native woodland; 1.7km of public access footpaths. Occasional events (work parties, BBQ etc)
Kyle & Lochalsh Community Trust
The Trust have taken over the management of community greenspace at ‘The Plock’ and have a series of activities and events on throughout the year that promote health and wellbeing.
Broadford & Strath Community Company
Provides horticultural therapy through gardening and other outdoor activities at Boradford Growers Hub
Glenelg and Arnisdale Development Trust
A group that manages community land and other assets for benefits of the community.
Raasay Walled Garden
We supply produce to the local community, provide volunteering opportunities and a beautiful outdoor amenity area to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
Walking initiatives

Health Walks
A health walk is a short, regular, and guided walk that is designed to help people improve their health and wellbeing. Health walks are typically led by trained volunteers and are open to people of all abilities and last no more than 1 hour.
Cycling initiatives
Kyle Community E-Bikes
Kyle Community Ebikes is part of the ‘Let’s Get on With it Together’ project to support people living in the Kyle of Lochalsh area to have the opportunity to trial an electric bike for free followed by cheap fortnightly/monthly loans.
Volunteering opportunities
The Woodland Trust
Management of woodlands for biodiveristy and people. Volunteering, events, tree planting, path work, interpretation on our owned sites.
Trees for Life
Volunteer involvement in restoring nature, particularly in Glen Affric and Glenmoriston. Nature connection is a key part of our approach.

Portree Skate Ramps
Mobile skate/BMX ramps for portree and Braes, currently situated on the ‘Red Pitch” in Portree
Highland Forest Therapy
‘Shinrin-yoku’ or ‘Forest Bathing’ originated in Japan as a wellness practice for immersing oneself in the atmosphere of the forest for relaxation and health care. Highland Forest Therapy offers guided nature and forest experiences to help relax, relieve stress and invite joy and pleasure through a sensory connection with the natural world.
Portree Angling Association
Portree Angling Association controls most of the angling in the North East of the Island of Skye, including the rights for the Storr Lochs, along with many rivers and other waters. There are Association boat on the Storr Lochs and these include a wheelie boat for disabled access.
Rag Tag n Textile
Rag Tag is a social enterprise on the Island of Skye that promotes mental and social-wellbeing through a programme of upcycled craft making in their workshop and therapy garden.

Arts in Nature
Arts in Nature supports people to engage with the outdoors and connect with nature in a creative way through the delivery of a variety of art and craft activities. Breathe some fresh air into your life. The outdoors helps us cope with life’s ups and downs. Your local area can be the perfect place to enjoy tranquil spots, find peace and quiet and also have some fun, healthy, family time.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Less than half of adults in Scotland visit the outdoors on a regular, weekly basis, and 14% don’t at all. Access to green space can help to protect the physical and mental health of both adults and children in Scotland.
