Walking In Nature

“In a world that is so disconnected right now it is important to reconnect in a way that is safe, friendly and makes you feel great – nature is that way”

The pandemic of 2020 has taken a lot from us with so many changes in how we live day to day which creates a lot of uncertainty. This uncertainty creates stress and anxiety which affects our ability to cope and look after our wellbeing.

That is why it is important to find as much certainty as you can through structure and finding constants that will help you thrive. One constant is nature.

The trees will continue to grow, the birds will keep chirping and you will always find beauty wherever you look. It will always provide a sense of escapism, a feeling of calm and by surrounding yourself in nature you will always feel mentally refreshed to take on your current challenges.

You can spend as little as 20 minutes in nature and it will create a lasting impact for your day. This is why I recommend walking in nature. Walking in nature is low impact and can be suitable for all abilities to help clear the mind, feel energised, improve mobility and increase physical activity.

In the Highlands we are surrounded by beautiful nature spots and you do not have to travel far to find beautiful greenspaces that will offer a tranquil walking experience.

Try walking in nature by yourself in areas such as Ness Islands, Reelig Glen or the Caledonian Canal to see how you feel after. If would like to join a group to discover new areas then you can join us for a Clarity Walk which provides a No-Phone nature walk experience. You can visit www.claritywalk.co.uk to find out more regarding our initiatives and walks.

Take care of yourself,

Matt Wallace
