Badenoch & Strathspey

Active Cairngorms Health Walks

Would you like to meet new people, get some fresh air and feel better? We’d love to welcome you to our weekly Health Walks taking place across Badenoch and Strathspey this Green Health Week. We walk from 10 minutes up to an hour, and are open to all (although we ask for only assistance dogs). The walks are free and no booking required, just join us on the day for a walk and an optional hot drink and chat at the end. Walks take place in:

Nairn

Nairn Family Greenway

Whole week: first week of the new Nairn Family Greenway, which brings together six organisations in Nairn (Blue Space Highland, Green Hive, N4H, Nairn County F.C., Nairn Museum and the National Autistic Society) to work on developing and delivering a year-long programme of events, activities and special initiatives aimed at supporting and engaging with local families. The programme runs between 15 May 2026 and 15 May 2027, and will be delivered at venues along the existing footpath/cycle-route between the public green spaces at Riverside on the south side of town and Viewfield to the west – via Fishertown, the harbour and the beachside Links, as well as the beach itself. This route will be promoted as the ‘Nairn Family Greenway’

Partnership for Wellbeing Health Walks

Health walks are supported by trained volunteer walk leaders and are between 1hr to 1.5hrs long, generally on level paths and not too difficult walking conditions. They are suitable if you would like to walk in company, and are aiming to become more physically active. All the walks are free.

Arts in Nature and Mikeysline are hosting a creative, nature‑inspired session in Munlochy on Wednesday 20 May from 4–5.30pm. We’ll meet at the Allangrange Arms and spend the session outdoors if the weather allows, or indoors in the Green Room if needed. We run a monthly collaborative art club here, but this will be a special event in celebration of Green Health Week. The session is open to all ages, with children accompanied by an adult. RSPB Inch Marshes Reserve

Wildlife Wander

Come for a Wildlife Wander with our knowledgeable Volunteer Wardens to see some of the amazing wildlife that Spring brings to Insh Marshes.9.30am – 1.30pm

On this leisurely walk see the lush green aspen leaves trembling and a variety of bird species, including curlew (which we may hear calling), lapwing and snipe (which could be displaying) and song birds singing through the trees. During sunny intervals early butterflies like orange tip and small tortoiseshell will be flying.

Nature Walk for Wellbeing. 13.30 to 15.00, 21/5/26. Meeting at the Craig Dunain Duck Pond, a gentle hour and half walk to enjoy, appreciate and benefit from the wonderful nature around us. Everyone is welcome to the Go Flourish Garden at North Kessock Primary School on Thursdays, 3–5pm (term time). Entrance is from behind the school on Drumsmittal Road.

These relaxed drop-in gardening sessions are open to all ages, with no experience needed, and offer a friendly space to enjoy nature, connect with others, and share a cuppa. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteer opportunities during school hours are also available, with PVG support provided.

Immerse yourself in a carefully curated wellbeing experience featuring an outdoor sauna, soothing spa treatments, mindfulness sessions, creative arts workshops, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to explore fitness, health, nature, and trail therapy.

Whether you’re looking to unwind, get inspired, or simply spend quality time outdoors, this is your invitation to reset and recharge.

This event will run between 10.00am and 6.00pm, and you are welcome to come along at any time and for as long as you want. All the activities are free and we’ll release the schedule for the day in advance of the event. There’s loads to do for all the family and we have activities available for all the family to ensure that adults have the space to take part in a range of wellbeing activities.
